As a licensed tax attorney and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with more than 20 years’ experience, Dean Marsan possesses expertise in a wide variety of complex financial matters. As Senior Tax Counsel for Lehman Brothers from 1988 until 2008, Mr. Marsan handled a myriad of tax information reporting and other finance-related tasks, including reviewing tax information reporting, tax withholding, and documentation requirements (U.S. and non-U.S.) for the firm’s investments and financial products as well as tax counseling to the Firm Investment and Loan Commitment Committees. Prior to his appointment with Lehman Brothers, Dean Marsan worked as a Tax Associate for several New York-based law firms. He previously functioned in CPA capacities for Price Waterhouse’s International Tax Services Group and for Touche Ross & Co. Additionally, Dean Marsan has brought his experience to Deloitte Tax LLP, where he held the position of Senior Tax Manager. Specializing in tax information reporting (1441/FATCA) and tax controversy, Mr. Marsan provided in-depth analysis and counseling on issues relating to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), a law pertaining to American funds held in overseas accounts. Dean Marsan began his education at the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He went on to receive a Master of Science in Taxation from Long Island University, a Juris Doctor from Franklin Pierce Law Center, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law. Mr. Marsan possesses licenses to practice law from the New York State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the U.S. Tax Court, and he is certified as a public accountant in Maryland, New Hampshire, and Washington, D.C. In his free time, Dean Marsan enjoys reading, traveling, skiing, and weight lifting. He currently resides in New York City.
